Lake Drive
The house is located in Hamworthy at the western end of Poole harbour, adjacent to Ham Common which is a protected wildlife sanctuary with SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) designations. Walking on the Common, fishing off Lake Pier and swimming on Lake Beach are all within minutes of the Houseboat.
Lake Yard Club
Located a short walk away (100m), along Lake Drive is The Lake Yard Club. A marina facility with a fabulous bar and restaurant which is open to non-members. A great spot for lunch or dinner and to watch the boat activity in the marina. Berths and swinging moorings are available by prior arrangement if needed.
Water Sports & Activities
There is a sailing school at Rockley Point (1 mile) with good beginners and children’s courses for learning to sail. Access to the harbour is available from the adjacent Lake Pier (which is public). Poole Harbour Canoe Club for canoeing and chartering of local boats, including the Dorset Queen (the local historic pleasure boat) can be arranged with a pick-up from this pier.
Gateway to The Purbecks
This end of Poole Harbour is located close to the ancient town of Wareham (8.7miles) and is the gateway to the Purbecks and beyond; Corfe Castle (15miles), Swanage (19miles), Studland (19miles) and Weymouth (30miles). Learn more about the Purbecks.

Poole is known for its natural harbour expansive sandy beaches. As well as being a hub for all things nautical, it boasts some superb restaurants and bars.
